eMachines, one of the the world’s fastest growing and most efficient PC brands, was acquired by Gateway, Inc. in March 2004 for $262 million in cash and shares. In October 2007, eMachines was acquired by Taiwan-based Acer Inc., and the combined entities now comprise the third-largest PC company in the world. It remains a stand-alone brand that is sold through leading retailers, e-tailers and channel partners in the U.S. and selected markets abroad.

Since its launch in 1998, they’ve shipped more than five million eMachines systems. It was the second-largest vendor of desktop PCs sold through U.S. retailers. eMachines is one of the most successful computer brands in the industry. In fact, they’ve sold more than five million PCs to a new generation of enthusiastic computer users. Internationally, their low-cost, full-featured systems are sold in Canada, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom, with further expansion into Europe planned soon.
